About The Position

Kohler Co., a global leader in kitchen and bath products for over 150 years, is seeking a Materials Engineer to join our team This role supports product development, testing, and compliance activities, with a focus on evaluating, characterizing, and managing materials used in Kohler products to ensure they meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards. The Materials Engineer will collaborate closely with lab leads, product development teams, and quality assurance to drive consistency and innovation in material practices. Additionally, this position provides technical direction and support for plumbing product material evaluations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in product testing and reliability engineering.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with standard and compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively across all organizational levels and functions—both written and verbal, concisely and accurately.
  • Experience in new product development.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and consistency.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple complex projects at various stages of development.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical insight in preparation and support of part verification and qualification testing within the Materials Lab.
  • Deliver materials-related guidance for major projects supporting new and existing Kohler products.
  • Conducts testing as required to support product development, validation, and compliance efforts.
  • Assist in reviewing and approving test reports, verifying data integrity and adherence to protocols.
  • Communicates deviations, risks, and concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Prepare technical reports and documentation for regulatory compliance and audits.
  • Ensure all testing procedures comply with relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Support audits and maintain records of material evaluations and certifications.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and quality control protocols.
  • Collaborate with lab and cross-functional teams to align and document best practices.
  • Identify and implement improvements in testing methodologies, workflows, and material handling processes.
  • Stay current on emerging materials, technologies, and industry trends.
  • Perform statistical analysis of materials and test procedures, including Gage Repeatability & Reproducibility (Gage R&R) studies to validate measurement system accuracy and reliability.
  • Lead capability studies to assess process performance and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in laboratory equipment maintenance, calibration, and lifecycle planning.
  • Identify and execute capital improvement projects for lab infrastructure and equipment.

  • The salary range for this position is $85,400 - $130,300.
  • The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location.
  • In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus/variable incentive compensation.
