About The Position

Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) is seeking a full-time Engineer II to join a multidisciplinary team focused on providing diagnostic fielding and development support in a national laboratory environment. This role involves collaboration in the design, development, characterization, and fielding of diagnostic systems for high-stakes weapons physics experiments at the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS). The Engineer II will primarily operate diagnostic equipment and support various project activities, contributing to national security missions through innovative engineering solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an ABET-accredited engineering program or a Calculus-based STEM bachelor's degree.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in engineering.
  • Experience with electro-optical diagnostic systems is a plus.
  • Experience with radiographic and optical imaging systems is a plus.
  • Understanding of data analysis or engineering software such as MATLAB, Python, LabVIEW, SolidWorks, or Creo is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work underground is required.
  • Ability to function in a team environment and interface with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision on dynamic multidisciplinary projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with electro-optical diagnostic systems.
  • Experience with radiographic and optical imaging systems.
  • Familiarity with data analysis or engineering software such as MATLAB, Python, LabVIEW, SolidWorks, or Creo.

Responsibilities

  • Operate diagnostic equipment such as optical imaging equipment, oscilloscopes, and function generators.
  • Support execution of program/project activities and data collection.
  • Coordinate project execution compliance with peers and other disciplines.
  • Collaborate with Scientists and Engineers in developing optical, electrical, and laser diagnostic data acquisition systems.
  • Research, extract, analyze, and compile technical data.
  • Prepare reports, graphs, proposals, studies, and correspondence.
  • Assist in preliminary engineering analysis, conceptual design, and engineering calculations.
  • Review project design and technical documents.
  • Perform drafting assignments, revise prints, and prepare sketches.
  • Execute work in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
