About The Position

The Engineer II-Wholesale NOC role at Windstream involves serving as a technical escalation engineer within the Wholesale Network Operations Center (NOC). This position is responsible for providing technical support, training NOC team members, addressing chronic customer circuit issues, and identifying areas for improvement to enhance NOC efficiency. The engineer will proactively identify network conditions that could lead to service outages for Windstream Wholesale customers.

Requirements

• College degree and 5-7 years' experience or 9+ years equivalent related Engineering/Technical experience
• Extensive experience with telecom services including Ethernet, DWDM waves, Fiber Tower backhaul, and TDM
• Computer software knowledge to include Microsoft Office, custom planning tools and databases
• Good analytical, oral, interpersonal, and written communication skills
• Ability to prioritize projects
• Proficient knowledge of accepted engineering practices
• Analytical problem-solving skills
• Strong and energetic work ethic with the ability to be a team player

• Ability to stay current with the economic and technological developments in the industry

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical escalation point of contact for Wholesale NOC team members
• Provide fault management and technical analysis for customer circuits and network repair
• Analyze the performance of network systems and tools
• Perform engineering design evaluations of customer circuits and the Windstream national network
• Provide technical leadership and direction in areas of expertise for engineering staff
• Perform administrative work relating to projects and assignments
