GEICO is seeking an experienced Engineer with a passion for building high-performance, low maintenance, zero-downtime platforms, and applications. You will help drive our insurance business transformation as we transition from a traditional IT model to a tech organization with engineering excellence as its mission, while co-creating the culture of psychological safety and continuous improvement. Our Engineer II is a key member of the engineering staff working across the organization to provide a friction-less experience to our customers and maintain the highest standards of protection and availability. The ideal candidate has broad and deep knowledge of emerging technologies to drive business results, enhance our customer's online experience, impact bottom-line operations and deliver award-winning apps to the App Store.

  • Build scalable, high-quality features for our product.
  • Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the entire software lifecycle.
  • Utilize programming languages like Kotlin, Java, SQL, and NoSQL databases.
  • Collaborate as a team and work with minimal oversight.
  • Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C# or other object-oriented languages, Swift, Objective C, Kotlin.
  • In-depth knowledge of CS data structures and algorithms.
  • Strong desire and commitment to learning new technologies quickly.
  • Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, startup-like environment.
  • Understanding of existing Operational Portals such as Azure Portal.
  • Understanding of Operational Portals such as Azure DevOps Portal.
  • Understanding or exposure to continuous delivery and infrastructure as code.
  • Knowledge of developer tooling across the software development life cycle (task management, source code, building, deployment, operations, real-time communication).
  • Understanding or experience with Gradle.
  • Understanding or experience with Kotlin, Java, and native Android or iOS frameworks, Swift and Objective C.
  • Understanding or experience working on location services, core motion and activity tracking.
  • Understanding of various core concepts like foreground, background processing, background task management, multithread programming and resource optimization techniques.
  • Basic understanding of telematics data.
  • Experience with application monitoring tools, debugging, logging and performance assessments.
  • Understanding or experience leveraging performance analysis tools to optimize code toward performance improvements.
  • Understanding or experience in using Mobile UI and API Automation scripting frameworks/tools like Appium, Loadrunner.
