There are still lots of open positions. Let's find the one that's right for you.
Virgin Galactic is seeking an aerospace propulsion design engineer with experience in propulsion design, analysis, and production manufacturing. The primary task for the person in this role will be to design, model, and analyze engineering solutions for components and subsystems in the hybrid propulsion system of Spaceship. Engineers in this position will also be expected to review planned manufacturing procedures to ensure compliance with design specifications and intentions, support test definition for verification testing of components and subsystems, and manage components and subsystems through their full lifecycle. In this role, you will work closely with the Spaceship Propulsion team to develop designs for Spaceship Propulsion systems. You will be responsible for developing 3D CAD models and 2D engineering definitions for detail parts, assemblies, and installations inside the Spaceship. Establishing manufacturing tolerances for the production of components is also a key responsibility. You will develop and document system requirements and interface constraints for components, review, update, and compile engineering analytical definitions, and perform preliminary stress analysis. Additionally, you will play an integral role in the workflow release process for all designs, support the review of manufacturing plans and procedures to ensure compliance with the requirements, and coordinate with other disciplines to ensure component performance in flight environments. Supporting verification activities to ensure that the propulsion system meets requirements is crucial, as is participating in the review, approval, and release process of engineering definitions. You will support components throughout their full lifecycle from prototype to final acceptance, as well as modifications and repairs after installation. Using engineering judgment to evaluate manufacturing issues and support nonconformance reports (NCR) will also be part of your responsibilities.
