About The Position

The Engineer II will play a central role on the OS & Apps Release & Delivery team, focusing on application packaging, OS imaging for Windows, macOS, and mobile platforms, as well as endpoint deployment, patching, and engineering. This role is critical for maintaining technical depth and continuity within the engineering team, ensuring reliable and efficient deployment of enterprise applications and devices. The Engineer II will design, implement, and optimize application packaging solutions, with a strong emphasis on automation, standardization, and cross-platform support. This role is hybrid, which means you will work some days on site at a Best Buy location and some days virtually from home or other non-Best Buy location. The specific work arrangements vary by role and team. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process. For this role, you must be located within a drivable distance to our office in Richfield, Minnesota.

Requirements

  • 2 years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree OR equivalent relevant professional experience
  • 3+ years supporting Windows OS and macOS in enterprise environments.
  • 1+ years supporting Mobile OS (ios and/or Android) in enterprise environments.
  • 2+ years of scripting experience such as PowerShell, Python, BASH
  • 1+ years of experience utilizing application packaging tools, including PSAppDeployToolkit, Munki, AdminStudio, or comparable solutions and OS deployment and patching, in enterprise environments.
  • 2+ years of experience with enterprise device management suites (SCCM, Intune, JAMF Pro, AirWatch, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • 4+ years in the EUC industry, deploying, managing, and supporting EUC systems.
  • 2+ years deploying new technologies in enterprise settings.
  • Familiarity with packaging standards and deployment automation for both Windows and macOS.
  • Experience developing and deploying API integrations (REST, JSON, SOAP) for automation and CICD.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, Google Cloud, AWS).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Initiative, eagerness to learn, and ability to work independently within a team.
  • Experience leading projects using standardized methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement new application packaging solutions for Windows, macOS, and Mobile enterprise environments.
  • Maintain and improve existing packaging, deployment and patch management processes, focusing on automation and standardization.
  • Advise on best practices for internal packaging operations to optimize efficiency and quality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors to enable and enhance capabilities.
  • Monitor external technical developments and grow subject matter expertise in end user technologies.
  • Evaluate, test, and deploy new technology and innovative solutions to improve end-user experience.
  • Develop and implement API systems integrations and orchestration runbooks for automation.
