Handles R&D hardware, firmware, software, and completes solutions projects as part of a cross-functional team. Collaborates with team members and other R&D teams in design, development, and validation of complete Smart Grid solutions. Collaborates with team members for component delivery.   

Requirements

  • Experience with designing/developing sheet metal, plastics, die casts and machined enclosures.Â
  • Experience in design applications requiring environmental sealing, EMI sealing, thermal dissipation, and vibration loads.Â
  • Proficient with Pro/Engineering and/or Creo 
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD•  
  • Knowledge of development processes, tools, and related frameworks•  
  • Knowledge of relevant development and/or validation methodologies•  
  • Knowledge of AMI and Smart Grid Systems and Solutions•  
  • Advanced design, development, or validation skills in functional area.•  
  • Ability to understand data effectively to solve problems and support ideas.•  
  • Ability to understand the code
  • Ability to design well-organized code testing methodologies. 
  • Ability to complete validate medium features with minimal oversight. 
  • Personal Computer knowledge 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Keyboard/typing skills. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.Â
  • Ensure design compliance with industry and company standards. 
  • Participate with other team members and groups in generating and executing designs, project plans, estimates and schedules.

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or relevant field.•  
  • 1-5 years of experience in mechanical design for electronic devices.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical system and component design utilizing solid modeling CAD tools.
  • Create detailed drawings of parts and assemblies utilizing CAD tools.Â
  • Calculate and lay out dimensions, angles, curvature of parts, materials to be used, and relationship of various parts to entire structure.Â
  • Responsible for ensuring mechanical development is created per schedule and per cost objectives.Â
  • Generate BOMs and ECOs.Â
  • Involved with a project/product at its infancy and support development products into production ready capacity.Â
  • Interact with internal and outside suppliers to procure, deliver, and implement parts and designs.Â
  • Trouble shoot and find corrective actions for "in the field" products that may experience failures. Â
  • Contribute to component and/or solution design, development, documentation, and validation.Â
  • Work on agile development teams, collaborating with multiple cross-discipline architecture teams to develop hardware and software components as part of L+G Smart Grid solutions.Â
  • Participate in recruitment, development and mentoring of junior engineers.Â
  • Contribute to area-specific continuous improvement initiatives.Â
  • Contribute to innovative technology and solutions development and/or validation.
