Collins Aerospace has an exciting opportunity for a Design Engineer II. We’re looking for an experienced professional, like you, to accept a high level of responsibility within a fast-paced, dynamic environment. In this role, you will design major components or major portions of functional systems, technically advanced prototypes, and specific products using computer design and engineering systems. You will also develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations; develop data and make parametric models, layouts, sketches, and notes for design proposals. This position will sit at our Aguadilla, PR location. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Relocation is not offered. This role is categorized as hybrid, with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote following the schedule assigned by the Manager.

  • Support Change Requests process (CRs) by preparing detailed reports and executing key activities in support to the Propellers systems team
  • Support the development and automation of status reports by the implementation of Visual Basic Applications (VBA), Power BI or similar tools
  • Creating 2D and 3D CAD designs using Catia, NX or other CAD tools
  • Managing Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Conducting drawing, geometry and documentation checks
  • Work closely with manufacturing operations to disposition non-conforming material
  • Opportunities to manage small projects or processes within area of responsibility
  • Investigate pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replaceability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost
  • Develop in-house tools where applicable to improve the ease of performing analysis
  • Utilize standard work and CORE/ACE tools to continuously improve the design process
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
  • Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written)
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
  • Relevant experience with Aerospace hardware, blueprints, Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T)
  • Capability to work and collaborate with engineers locally and across the globe
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement principles
  • Project management/Project engineering/MS Project experience is valuable
  • SAP knowledge is valuable
  • Experience in Manufacturing processes and procedures
  • Experience in coding with VBA, Python, Matlab or similar programming languages
  • Experience working with Team Center
  • Experience in Catia, NX or similar CAD software
  • BS IN Mechanical or Civil Engineering, preferred
  • Experience in the successful execution of tasks to meet technical, schedule and budget requirements
