About The Position

The Collins Aerospace Integrated Product Support team is seeking an experienced Lifecycle Logistics/Supportability Engineer to perform product support engineering analyses and planning tasks for communication and aviation electronics solutions. Act as a core member of a program Integrated Product Team (IPT) providing product support advice and oversight. Technical complexity will include identifying requirements for all twelve elements of integrated product support, for electronic communications and complex integrated systems. The primary support responsibilities for this position will be in the area of Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS). The candidate will work closely with Program Management, Technical Project Managers (TPMs), other Engineering disciplines (software, hardware, electrical, systems, RMS&H), as well as supply chain, procurement, and support staff to assure defined requirements are consistently met in all phases of the product lifecycle. This is an onsite role located in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field.

  • Prior experience in the aerospace/defense industry.
  • Experience working within a joint customer-contractor DMSMS Management Team.
  • Experience with SQL, Microsoft Excel, Visual Basic, Python, and other data analysis tools.

Responsibilities

  • Work independently with limited oversight, including but not limited to performing integrated product support element activities for Programs, Projects, or Products.
  • Understand DMSMS management planning including DMSMS risks, drivers, operating procedures, and cross-functional impacts.
  • Review electronic data sheets to identify suitable substitute parts.
  • Perform lifetime buy modeling and spares analysis using field data and reliability predictions.
  • Perform trade studies/business case analyses for Support trades through the program’s lifecycle.
  • Identify impacts of design changes on support infrastructure including common and peculiar support equipment, technical publications, etc.
  • Interpret engineering drawings to ensure supportability requirements are met.
  • Coordinate and participate in discussions with project managers and engineering managers on resources and priority to complete required deliverables.
  • Provide DMSMS inputs to the overall Logistics Support Analysis Effort.
  • May travel approximately 10%.
