About The Position

We are currently hiring a Mechanical Engineer II to join the Precision Control Actuation Systems (PCAS) Department of the Hardware Engineering organization, located in Tucson, AZ (On-site). This position is to support the Strategic Strike SSBU as a Mechanism REA. The Mechanism Responsible Engineering Authority (REA) provides guidance in design maturation, verification, and validation tasks, driving execution of mechanism-related scope. This role demands expertise in technical and schedule management, along with the ability to lead projects on critical proprietary programs. Responsibilities include ensuring technical requirement traceability, aligning verification methods with customer expectations, providing supplier and factory support, and conducting design verification testing. The Mechanism REA also serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for integrating into the air vehicle. In the Hardware Engineering Organization, this position requires cross-functional collaboration within an integrated product team to ensure design enhancements and system compatibility. It combines technical expertise to support test preparations, verification activities, and overall system performance.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics(STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in mechanical engineering or an advance degree.
  • Experience in mechanical mechanism design OR flight control systems for aerospace applications.
  • Experience working with and integrating hardware.
  • Ability to obtain Secret Special Access government clearance (required prior to start date)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Creo modeling software and Windchill/cPDM for TDP maintenance and support including peer review process, change board process, variances, supplier requests and change notices
  • Experience developing flight control systems for aerospace applications
  • Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Physics
  • Basic proficiency with model development and data analysis in MATLAB/Simulink
  • Basic knowledge of DOORS, CAMEO, and/or other requirements management tools
  • Systems engineering design and development
  • Experience with dSPACE Real-time test systems
  • Ability to cross collaborate with geographically distributed teams
  • Ability to articulate, in both oral and written form, to technical, non-technical and management audiences

Responsibilities

  • Provide Adaptive Mechanical Engineering Support: Offer diverse mechanical engineering expertise to meet the fluctuating needs of the program. Responsibilities may include detailed mechanical design, test development and execution, systems engineering, and support for factory and supplier operations.
  • Demonstrate Flexibility in Responsibilities: Adapt to changing organizational priorities by leveraging your skill set to address current program demands and ensure seamless execution of tasks.
  • Deliver Specialized Mechanical Engineering Expertise: Contribute to the success of mechanisms and related systems through: Detailed mechanical design and analysis. Development and implementation of test plans. Supplier management and collaboration with factory teams. Processing and managing design or process changes. Supporting systems engineering initiatives based on program requirements.
