About The Position

Are you a skilled Engineer with a passion for the outdoors? Do you want to work for a leader in wetland conservation and make a difference in the world? Ducks Unlimited is currently seeking a talented entry level Engineer to join our team in the Great Lakes/Atlantic Regional Office, located in Dexter, MI.   As an EIT at Ducks Unlimited, you will work on a variety of wetland and habitat restoration projects, collaborating with a team of biologists, engineers and engineering technicians to bring projects to life. You will be responsible for creating accurate and detailed designs and design drawings for wetland restoration projects. Primary responsibilities will be in Michigan and Ohio.

Requirements

  • Candidates must have at minimum, a B.S in Civil Engineering or an equivalent degree from an EAC/ABET accredited engineering program
  • Demonstrated oral, written and interpersonal communication skills are essential.
  • Candidates must be self-motivated, goal oriented and able to work with and solve problems in close team-based relationships.

Nice To Haves

  • a preferred minimum of 2 years’ experience in civil engineering design.
  • It is preferred that the candidate is a registered EIT.
  • Desirable qualifications include experience with Civil3D, hydrology, hydraulics, civil design including structures and pump stations, erosion control, construction inspection and project management.
  • Therefore, experience with or willingness to learn to operate ATVs and outboard boats is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Survey project sites using Trimble GPS survey equipment.
  • Interpret, select, adapt, and apply engineering, surveying, and construction management principles and practices across a range of engineering services within a diverse conservation program.
  • Complete engineering designs and reports as required.
  • Draft engineering plan sets using AutoCAD Civil 3D software.
  • Conduct field inspection and perform construction management oversight as needed.
  • Ensure that consultants and contractors adhere to project plans, specifications, and schedules.
  • Perform field work as required which could include strenuous outdoor activity in difficult environmental conditions. Field equipment may include ATVs and outdoor boats. Therefore, experience with or willingness to learn to operate ATVs and outboard boats is desirable.
