About The Position

Amentum is seeking a 1st shift Engineer I for our facility operations team in Decatur, IL. Typical work schedule is Monday – Friday 7:00am – 3:30 pm, hours may vary based on business demand.(required) Additional hours may be scheduled to support our 24/7 operation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
  • 4+ years of relevant experience with Associates degree; 0-2 years of relevant experience with Mechanical Engineering Bachelor’s degree, and or combination of experience and education.
  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
  • This position may require a valid Driver’s License.
  • This position will require the ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location.
  • This position may require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.
  • Requires the ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires the ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladders, stepladders, and stairs.
  • Requires working from an aerial lift.
  • Requires the flexibility to bend/stoop, squat during shift.
  • Requires the ability to walk throughout the plant during shift.
  • Requires the use of a Company/Client approved utility knife.
  • Requires the ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding.
  • Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.
  • Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
  • Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct analytic studies and/or scientific studies in physics, mathematics, or engineering.
  • Generate specifications for computer program development.
  • Prepares and reviews plans, specifications, AutoCAD drawings and schedules to determine work phases and work priorities.
  • Establish and maintain a filing system, databases and logs as needed for tracking program status and inventory.
  • Coordinate and work closely with other scientific, engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines in conducting analytic and/or scientific studies.
  • Identify, collect, and analyze technical information relevant to the quality and significance of a specific research and other scientific development issues.
  • Ensures work is compliance with design specifications, is completed on schedule, adheres to budget, meets accounting requirements and meets quality standards.
  • Prepare and present briefings about research findings.
  • Direct customer interface for coordination, modification, technical assistance, and implementation of programs.
  • Provide technical input, ideas and concepts for proposals and business development
  • Perform design, development, or review tasks in specific areas under close supervision.
  • Design a portion or section of an analysis or design review.
  • Assist in generation of specifications and engineering data.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and correspondence.
  • Establish and maintain a filing system or databases as needed for tracking project status.
  • Develop, maintain, and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications.
  • Interface with customers in design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications.
  • Verify and comply with engineering documentations standard and test procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned
