About The Position

Amentum is seeking a 1st shift Engineer I for our facility operations team in Decatur, IL. Typical work schedule is Monday – Friday 7:00am – 3:30 pm, hours may vary based on business demand.(required) Additional hours may be scheduled to support our 24/7 operation.

Requirements

High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
4+ years of relevant experience with Associates degree; 0-2 years of relevant experience with Mechanical Engineering Bachelor’s degree, and or combination of experience and education.
Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
This position may require a valid Driver’s License.
This position will require the ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location.
This position may require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.
Requires the ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
Requires the ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladders, stepladders, and stairs.
Requires working from an aerial lift.
Requires the flexibility to bend/stoop, squat during shift.
Requires the ability to walk throughout the plant during shift.
Requires the use of a Company/Client approved utility knife.
Requires the ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding.
Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.
Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained.

Responsibilities

Conduct analytic studies and/or scientific studies in physics, mathematics, or engineering.
Generate specifications for computer program development.
Prepares and reviews plans, specifications, AutoCAD drawings and schedules to determine work phases and work priorities.
Establish and maintain a filing system, databases and logs as needed for tracking program status and inventory.
Coordinate and work closely with other scientific, engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines in conducting analytic and/or scientific studies.
Identify, collect, and analyze technical information relevant to the quality and significance of a specific research and other scientific development issues.
Ensures work is compliance with design specifications, is completed on schedule, adheres to budget, meets accounting requirements and meets quality standards.
Prepare and present briefings about research findings.
Direct customer interface for coordination, modification, technical assistance, and implementation of programs.
Provide technical input, ideas and concepts for proposals and business development
Perform design, development, or review tasks in specific areas under close supervision.
Design a portion or section of an analysis or design review.
Assist in generation of specifications and engineering data.
Assist in the preparation of reports and correspondence.
Establish and maintain a filing system or databases as needed for tracking project status.
Develop, maintain, and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications.
Interface with customers in design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications.
Verify and comply with engineering documentations standard and test procedures.
