About The Position

Welty Energy, an affiliate of Welty, is a professional services company specializing in program and project management, transmission line engineering, substation engineering and construction oversight on transmission, substation and distribution projects ranging in voltages from 4kV to 765kV. Headquartered in Akron, OH, and working nationally, Welty Energy currently manages approximately $500 million in construction projects for electric utilities in the Midwest and Northeast regions of the U.S. Welty Energy is looking to add an Engineering Designer I to our team! As an Engineering Designer, you will be an integral member of the Electric Substation Design Team responsible for providing design and CAD services on substation projects. This role is expected to work in our Merrillville, IN office mirroring EST working hours. The role may be considered for a remote position for the right candidate.

Requirements

Associate's degreein drafting or equivalent technical program.
3-6 years of experience designing utility substations or transmission projectsutilizingAutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Effective organizational skills.
Be able to travel 0-5% of the time based on business needs.

Nice To Haves

Relevant experience on brownfield substation design, focused on 12kV to 230kV preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare substation and electrical design packagesin accordance withclient standards, based on direction and engineering inputs. Designs may include, but are not limited to: Single-line diagrams
AC and DC schematic diagrams
Physical layout designs
SCADA system designs
Wiring diagrams
Develop complete construction drawing packages, including precise installationdetailsand supporting documentation.
Ensure all project deliverablescomply withapplicable client standards, specifications, and quality requirements.
Utilize client-approved software systems and drawing management platforms to manage, track, and update documents checked out by Welty.
Provide consultation, technical support, and design insight for internal Welty projects at the request of the Leadership Team.
Collaborate closely with Engineers, Project Managers, and other team members to support efficient project execution andtimelydelivery of design packages.
