Engineer I - Water/Wastewater

About The Position

Our Water/Wastewater team in Virginia Beach is looking for an Engineer I to join their team. In this role you will perform design and project delivery for water/wastewater projects, including water distribution, sewage collection systems, sewer separation, water and sewer treatment facilities and pumping stations. This is an opportunity to work with a team of experienced project managers in a truly collaborative environment to support our municipal clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related engineering field
  • Zero (0) to five (5) years of experience in the study, design, and construction administration of water and wastewater conveyance and facilities infrastructure (pipelines, force mains, and pump stations)
  • A self-starter, versatile and interested in working on a variety of projects supporting our Water and Wastewater Group
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills required
  • Excellent organizational and presentation skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite including Word, Outlook, Project, Excel and PowerPoint

Nice To Haves

  • AutoCAD and MicroStation experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare design calculations, drawings, and specifications for water and wastewater pipelines, treatment facilities and pumping stations
  • Assist with the preparation and review of technical memoranda, reports, drawings, specifications, and miscellaneous contract documents
  • Conduct technical evaluations to support planning and design related to water and wastewater systems
  • Support field testing and investigations when required
  • Support construction projects with office engineering services (submittal review, contract document interpretation, requests for information, correspondence, change requests, and change orders) when required
  • Prepare design calculations and drawings for incidental services to water / wastewater projects such as pump station and pipeline systems
  • Provide technical marketing support during the procurement of key projects as requested.
  • Communicate effectively and coordinate with project teams including other disciplines, such as cost estimators, GIS, designers, and other engineers
