About The Position

Be part of a Power Delivery team responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining electrical equipment within Grant County PUD’s transmission and distribution facilities. This position is responsible for providing knowledge and expertise related to transmission, distribution, substations, and SCADA automation and other supporting facilities within Grant County PUD’s Power Delivery Department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or engineering technology field OR 4 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or engineering technology field OR 4 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of degree. 1 year of Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology field
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or engineering technology field OR 4 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of degree. 3-5 years of relevant utility work experience or demonstrated equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or engineering technology field OR 4 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of degree. 6 years of relevant work experience (Utility Substations applications) or demonstrated equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or engineering technology field OR 4 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of degree. At least 10 years of relevant work experience (Utility Substations applications) or demonstrated equivalent.
  • Knowledge of NERC standards and regulatory compliances
  • Knowledge of concepts, principles, theories, and methods surrounding electrical engineering industry standards and best practices (NEC, IEEE, NFPA, etc)
  • Ability to perform work in the field and work in construction environments.
  • Skill in problem-solving and thinking critically
  • Written and oral interpersonal communication; workflow and time management
  • Utilizing MS office products; specialized software, tools, and applications

  • Learning project management procedures, engineering calculations and troubleshooting methodologies
  • Research and analyze technical information and data to prepare reports.
  • Meet with contract personnel, Grant PUD Employees, and other representatives to resolve problems and concerns and answer questions on issues/projects; assist with field inspections of projects for conformance to approved plans with the assistance of a more experienced team member.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including but not limited to: Engineering Work Packages. Build material Generating new drawings or revising existing Basic understanding about equipment Inspecting equipment in the field, develop troubleshooting skillset.
  • Participated in activities such as installation, quality control, and production.
  • Specify equipment, work with vendors, and obtain quotes as needed.
  • Support capital execution of projects as it relates to low impact transmission design, materials, and equipment.
  • Participate in processes focusing on operations and engineering practices that drive strong reliability and performance.
  • Basic understanding about equipment that ranges from, but is not limited to, High/Medium/Low Voltage Distribution systems, Control Systems, Transformers, SCADA systems, Protective Relay Equipment, High/Medium/Low Voltage Circuit Breakers, Battery Systems, as well as other supporting equipment that is required for the safe and reliable operation of transmission systems.
  • Research and support the implementation of new and upgraded equipment throughout the transmission system, with considerable guidance from supervisors and peers.
  • Project management support that includes budget forecasts, scheduling, coordination, construction/commissioning for small-sized projects.
  • This position will gain knowledge in skills related to best industry practice, Utility Standards, Codes or other Legal Standards that will be used to support electrical engineering projects and that are required for the safe and reliable operation of the equipment.
  • Support capital execution of projects as it relates to transmission design, materials, and equipment.
  • Lead the development of processes focusing on operations and engineering practices that drive strong reliability and performance with assistance.

  • Engage in industry forums, and events (IEEE, SEE, CIGRE, etc.).
  • Facilitate transmission equipment specification and drawings review, coordinate with manufacturers and vendors to make sure they adhere to the company requirements.
  • Review existing materials, components, and design standards for process improvements, cost savings, etc.
