About The Position

The Engineer I position is to participate in our Water/Wastewater Treatment group. Expertise is desired in planning and design of water, recycled water, and/or wastewater treatment plants. This role will contribute to the development of the firm’s Treatment practice and have client involvement. This is an entry-level position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or related field.
  • Coursework and research experience in water and wastewater supply, distribution and treatment, and water quality
  • 1-3 years of experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of design of water, recycled water and wastewater treatment plants.
  • Positive and clear written and verbal communication practices are essential for success in this position.
  • Must effectively communicate with all project team members

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering
  • Emphasis on environmental/water resources engineering is beneficial.
  • Coursework and research experience in water and wastewater supply, distribution and treatment, and water quality.
  • Ability to process engineering calculations unaided, compile plans and organize basic designs.
  • Must effectively communicate with all project team members.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing plans, specifications, calculations, equipment evaluations, preliminary layouts and technical reports for water, recycled and wastewater treatment projects.
  • Deciding on the most appropriate engineering techniques and sequences of activities for each project stage, with input from project managers.
  • Completing evaluations of water quality data for treatment facilities.
  • Perform site visits and field activities including condition assessments of treatment facilities.
  • Developing technical writing and correspondence including preparation of technical memoranda, preliminary design reports, and other reports related to the planning and design of treatment systems.
  • Making estimations for timescales and costs ensuring plans meet the client’s specifications
  • Assisting senior-level engineers with the preparation of proposals.
  • Coordinating project assignments with those of other EITs, engineers and technicians on the project team.
  • Researching regulatory, legislative, or code issues with City, County, and State agencies.
  • Attending meetings and interacting with clients.
