About The Position

Responsible for supporting the Distribution Operations Center (DOC) in engineering functions, analysis, and technical expertise. Performs a wide variety of planning, maintenance, and engineering activities related to routine, non-routine, and emergency restoration. Project areas may include grid/system design, operations and maintenance, planning, asset management, reliability, computer applications, safety, and root cause failure analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Discipline (typically Electrical, Mechanical, Civil and Chemical, Industrial) from four year accredited institution.
  • Degrees in engineering technology (typically, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, and Industrial) from a four year accredited institution with PE may be considered.
  • Engineer I: 0 to 2 years experience in an engineering discipline.
  • Engineer II: 2+ years experience in an engineering discipline.
  • Engineer III: 4+ years experience in an engineering discipline.
  • Engineer Sr: 6+ year experience in an engineering discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply engineering principles.
  • Thorough understanding of procedures, programs, and standards in responsible area.
  • Consistently demonstrates good engineering judgment.
  • Good leadership skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills along with strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent math skills.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Good knowledge of Personal Computer operations and related software.
  • Familiar with National Electrical Safety Codes and National Electrical Code.
  • Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Required to work safely and follow all Entergy safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to recognize hazards in the workplace and have the ability to mitigate the hazards.
  • Ability to meet the public in a pleasant and tactful manner and understand the importance of delivering a high level of customer service.
  • Demonstrated acceptance of a diverse and inclusive work environment and customer base.
  • Ability to recognize opportunities for process improvement and have the ability to enact change.
  • Must have valid driver's license and good driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance to the DOC operators, staff, and local area line groups.
  • Provide project switching analysis and outage scheduling support for all large projects including substation, distribution planned and reliability projects.
  • Review and recommend for planned and contingent switching plans, comply with company standards and enhance the overall system performance and reliability.
  • Participate in meetings with internal customers to facilitate DOC functions.
  • Report on relevant metrics pertaining to DOC functions.
  • Perform engineering calculations to aid in planning and corrective measure projects.
  • Assist with storm restoration efforts.
