About The Position

Microchip is seeking an Engineer I – Program Management individual to manage and direct technical R&D programs in the field of timing and communications systems. The successful candidate must be able to represent Microchip and the programs in a detailed technical fashion both internally and externally. Specific responsibilities for this key role include: Working closely with senior staff in defining, implementing, and delivering the company’s fiscal, technological, and professional priorities for program schedules, milestones, contracted deliverables and strategic priorities. Ensuring financial performance of the program in reference to profit targets established at the time of contract definition. Providing full lifecycle development support with the technical team to meet all customer mission critical requirements. This includes evaluating design trades, providing input to design approach, addressing risk and designing for manufacturability, test, etc. Driving the team to ensure effective management of program scope re: contractual commitments, management of the customer and customer interface required to modify contracts required in the event of unplanned events and program scope. Monitoring and tracking program status; working with team members to minimize profit dilution, reduce overruns, and ensuring efficient and effective completion. Preparing and briefing program status at internal Program Management Reviews- designed to service executive oversight requirements, illuminate issues, and conceptualize corrective actions in cooperation with executive staff. Supporting the definition, implementation, management, and/or use of Program Management function tools, processes, protocols, and best practices at the portfolio/ individual program level.

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Strong presentation and briefing delivery skills and the ability to communicate technical material to non-technical people are essential.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field plus 0 - 2.5 years’ experience
  • Experience in management tools (MS Project, MRP, and ERP)
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to speak and write effectively
  • This job requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by the export laws of the United States. Candidates are required to provide proof of either US citizenship, Permanent US residency or classification as a protected individual as defined in 8 USC 1324b (a) (3).

  • The annual base salary range for this position, which could be performed in the US, is $70,304 - $143,000. Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
