About The Position

As a Manufacturing Engineer I within Systems Operations, you will bridge the gap between design and the shop floor by owning the end-to-end development of critical tooling and fixtures. You will spend your time both at a SolidWorks workstation and hands-on with CNC/manual machinery to fabricate, program, and maintain the tools you design. This role is responsible for troubleshooting production issues and ensuring all specialized tooling meets high-precision standards from concept to completion.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering with 0 - 2.5 years of relevant work experience
  • Foundational knowledge in Tool and Die, Jigs, and Fixtures.
  • Aptitude for both designing and personally fabricating tools.
  • End-to-End Development: Must be able to initiate tool concepts for existing or new processes, investigate design options, and drive development from initial DWG through CNC programming to final completion.
  • Ability to assist in the programming of SMT and various other machines
  • Specialized Tooling: Experience designing and building jigs, work platforms, and specialized hand tools required for the precision assembly of small components.
  • Technical proficiency in manual and CNC milling (NC machines).
  • Basic working knowledge of surface grinders, lathes, and the integration of wire EDM.
  • Material and Process Knowledge: Familiarity with parts cleaning, plating, and heat-treating.
  • Knowledge of material properties to assist in selecting alloys based on tensile strength and wear.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficient in SolidWorks and AutoCAD for 3D modeling and 2D drafting; experience using these tools to generate tool paths and manufacturing layouts.
  • U.S. Export Controls Requirements: This job requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by the export laws of the United States. Candidates are required to provide proof of either US citizenship, Permanent US residency or classification as a protected individual as defined in 8 USC 1324b (a) (3).

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with investigating manufacturing issues.
  • Support the implementation of technical solutions using internal machining equipment
  • Review engineering drawings, blueprints, and models to plan the sequence of machining operations.
  • Expertly select the correct tool-making methods to ensure the efficient fabrication of dies and assemblies.
  • Propose modifications to improve reliability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Use hands-on experience with CNC machines and tool making to ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability (DFM).
  • Examine previously used dies and fixtures to recommend design or construction modifications that extend tool life and optimize intended functions.
  • Personally assemble and inspect tooling for fit, surface finish, and contour conformity.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments to verify tolerances and ensure AS-9100/ISO-9001 compliance.
  • Redesign preventative maintenance schedules for tooling and machines to increase up-time and reduce costs associated with equipment failure.
  • Ability to support and program SMT and others various machines.

  • The annual base salary range for this position, which could be performed in the US, is $70,304-$143,000. Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
