About The Position

The Engineer I, II, III, or IV - Electric Line position involves performing engineering duties related to electric line design under the supervision of the Manager-Electric Line Engineering. The role is structured to allow for progression from entry-level tasks to more complex project management responsibilities, depending on the level of the position. Engineers at all levels will work on various projects, supervise interns, and are expected to gain experience and autonomy in their work as they advance through the ranks.

Requirements

  • An electrical engineering degree from an accredited program is required for all levels.
  • Engineer I: Electrical engineering design experience preferred but not required.
  • Engineer II: Minimum of three years of electric transmission and/or distribution design experience required.
  • Engineer III: Minimum of five years of recent progressively responsible electric transmission/distribution design experience required.
  • Engineer IV: Minimum of eight years of recent applicable and progressively responsible electric transmission/distribution design experience required.
  • Valid driver's license (minimum Class F) is required for all levels.
  • Engineer III and IV require a valid Missouri PE Registration Certificate.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AutoCAD is preferred for all levels.
  • Ability to teach and mentor less experienced engineers (especially for Engineer III and IV).
  • Exceptional utility engineering experience may be considered in lieu of a PE license for Engineer III.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic engineering duties necessary for the completion of the department's goals (Engineer I).
  • Work on smaller projects and portions of more complicated projects (Engineer II).
  • Perform complex engineering duties necessary for the completion of the department's goals (Engineer III).
  • Act as lead for major or moderate scope projects, including technical specification development and project management (Engineer IV).
  • Supervise intern employees as needed across all levels.
  • Interface with outside agencies and work collaboratively with team members.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate technical work.
