Weston & Sampson is currently seeking a Civil/Environmental Engineer with 0-3 years of experience in our Columbia, SC office. This candidate must have a strong work ethic and be someone who would like to be part of a growing team of environmental engineering and solid and hazardous waste professionals. What you’ll do: Work closely with our project managers and civil and environmental professionals on a variety of environmental engineering and construction assignments. Diverse projects include solid waste facility permitting and design, Brownfield site assessment and environmental monitoring, building abatement and demolition, underground storage tank removal/replacement, site civil/stormwater design, maintenance sediment dredging, and soil/groundwater remediation design. Complete field assignments such as stormwater pollution prevention plan (SWPPP) inspections, spill protection, control, and countermeasure (SPCC) inspections, ASTM Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) site walks, and ASTM Phase II ESA investigation activities (e.g., drilling oversight and soil logging, monitoring well installation, and soil, groundwater, and air sampling). Coordinate with managers and staff performing environmental assessment, remedial design and observation, and construction monitoring activities on cleanup sites and redevelopment projects. Support our engineering design teams for preparation of engineering design documents including plans, details, specifications, and cost estimates. Prepare reports and technical memoranda for a variety of environmental projects including environmental assessment, regulatory compliance, landfill environmental monitoring, solid waste permitting, feasibility studies, and engineering design. Review, manage, and process construction-phase Contractor submittals and requests for information. Coordinate task scheduling and design deliverables across a variety of environmental and engineering disciplines on muti-disciplinary design and construction projects. Participate in specific skill training for the designated job assignments.
