About The Position

The Engineer Helper assists the Engineer in the operation and maintenance of stationary engines and mechanical equipment such as steam engines, air compressors, generators, motors, turbines and steam boilers to provide utilities such as light, heat or power for buildings. To perform the Engineer Helper position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The essential duties and responsibilities of the Engineer Helper position are as follow:

  • Must be able to climb ladders
  • Knowledge of power and hand tools
  • Light plumbing, electrical and mechanical experience
  • Thursdays and Fridays from 3:30pm – 12:00 midnight and
  • Saturdays and Sundays from 11:30a – 12:00 midnight
  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • One (1) year prior experience and/or training

Responsibilities

  • Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and company directives related to building operations and work safety
  • Perform assigned day-to-day repairs, emergency and preventive maintenance
  • Complete maintenance and repair records as required
  • Review assigned work orders
  • Estimate time and materials needed to complete repair
  • Order necessary materials and supplies to complete all tasks
  • Assist with installation and modification of building equipment systems
  • Assist with troubleshooting and repairs of buildings and installed systems to include: plumbing systems, kitchen equipment, roofs, drains, shop and HVAC
  • Respond quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed
  • Use power and hand tools as needed when required
  • Other duties as assigned
