As an Engineer, you serve as a technical specialist delivering the engineering that powers the product. You develop keen insight into the technical architecture and design to deliver robust and scalable software components. You constantly demonstrate the depth of your expertise by solving engineering problems. You are passionate about the quality of software and balance between speed of delivering new features and robustness of the software components you implement. You can handle operational issues with little or no oversight. You actively review code to ensure the software quality and functional accuracy is maintained across the team. You are keen to learn the design and architecture of the product and participate in ceremonies that can influence both. About this Team: Target gift cards are a wildly popular product and are one of the top 5 gift cards purchased in the US. The Gift Card Services team is the technology owner for this area of our business. Our team is an integral part of the average sales transactions that happen both in-store or online. Because of this, our technology needs to be both highly performant and reliable. It also needs to interoperate consistently with all of the other critical systems that are part of the checkout process. As part of our team you'll develop your technical acumen as you directly participate in the development and operation of a high volume, low latency system, while learning how to become a valued member of an enterprise wide group that spans many different product areas and engineering teams and delivers functionality core to Target's business. The Technology: We use agile practices and leverage open-source software to adapt and build amazing technology for our team members and guests—and we do so with a focus on diversity and inclusion, experimentation, and continuous learning. While we're constantly re-evaluating the best technologies to achieve our goals, we currently work with the following technologies: CI/CD - GIT and Automated Deployment Pipelines Infrastructure - Containerized workloads managed with our own proprietary cloud orchestrator Languages - Java, Javascript, Kotlin, SQL Frameworks/Libraries - Spring, React Data Storage and Streaming - Kafka, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Target Object Store (S3 Compatible) The ideal candidate for this position will have the desire to become a contributing member of the team as quickly as possible and will have the curiosity and drive to make that happen. Having a solid understanding of how the technologies listed above is important but we're on the hunt for great engineers and that may mean that your experience doesn't perfectly align with our stack.
