About The Position

The Forensic Structural Engineer role at Thornton Tomasetti involves investigating structural issues in existing buildings and providing evidence-based solutions. The position focuses on structural forensic investigation, litigation support, risk loss consulting, and designing remedial repairs for deficient conditions. The engineer will conduct on-site inspections, analyze structural failures, and collaborate with junior staff and project managers to deliver comprehensive engineering solutions.

Requirements

• Master's degree in structural or architectural engineering preferred; undergraduate degree in engineering required.
• Field experience with diverse building types preferred.
• Ability and willingness to travel within the US and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site inspections and investigations, including surveying and documenting observations, photographing, and sketching.
• Research the historical background of diverse structures, technical issues, and code issues.
• Organize field data to facilitate analysis and problem-solving.
• Complete structural analysis and repair rehabilitation design of concrete, steel, timber, masonry, and other structural systems.
