The Engineer - Entry Level position at Wayne County Government involves performing engineering duties related to planning, designing, testing, and overseeing construction projects such as roads, bridges, pumphouses, and stormwater systems.   • Spatially visualize in three dimensions the proposed design plans to ensure constructability and avoid construction conflicts.
  • Inspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications and safety or sanitation standards.
  • Compute load and grade requirements, water flow rates, or material stress factors to determine design specifications.
  • Test soils or materials to determine the adequacy and strength of foundations, concrete, asphalt, or steel.
  • Participate in surveying to lay out installations or establish reference points, grades, or elevations to guide construction.
  • Compute quantities of materials for projects.
  • Assist with the design of transportation or hydraulic systems or structures using computer-assisted design or drawing tools.
  • Identify environmental risks for civil engineering projects.
  • Use survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, or other topographical or geologic data.
  • Assist with studies of traffic patterns or environmental conditions to identify engineering problems and assess potential project impact.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • A valid Driver's License and an acceptable safe driving record (less than 9 points).
  • This is an entry level position, no work experience required.
