Georgia Power, a subsidiary of Southern Company, is currently seeking an Engineer or Engineering Associate for the Dublin Area. The position can be filled as either an Engineer, Engineering Associate, or Engineering Representative depending on the skills, education, and experience qualifications of the successful candidate. This position will handle all day-to-day engineering work activities in an assigned area, including service design, estimating, and coordinating construction for multiple overhead and underground residential, new business, and other construction projects. The candidate must provide superior customer service and prepare and schedule construction of jobs to meet committed service dates. Responsibilities also include writing and executing switching orders, processing documentation in accordance with compliance requirements, handling customer inquiries, and participating in the on-call trouble supervision rotation. The candidate must be available after business hours for local, out-of-town, and out-of-state trouble and storm restoration.

  • Handle day-to-day engineering work activities in an assigned area.
  • Service design, estimating, and coordinating construction for multiple overhead and underground residential projects.
  • Provide superior customer service and prepare/schedule construction jobs to meet service dates.
  • Write and execute switching orders for system maintenance and reliability.
  • Process documentation in accordance with compliance requirements.
  • Handle customer inquiries including voltage complaints and claims.
  • Assist with Distribution compliance and asset management programs.
  • Participate in on-call trouble supervision rotation.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Math, or Science, or a 2-year accredited Technical Degree.
  • Professional Engineer's License (PE) in lieu of the above bachelor's degree.
  • Previous Distribution Engineering Experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of electrical system operations and distribution systems.
  • Proficient with MS Office products and engineering software systems.
  • Strong technical engineering skills and understanding of power systems.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work to manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Prior experience in writing and executing switching orders.
  • Working knowledge of ARMS, JETS/JETS Scheduling, Designer/GIS, CSS, Socket, DistView, TCMS Web, NJUNS, EDEN, and DisIntel.
  • Knowledge of the Franchise Manual, Distribution Bulletins, Engineering Handbook/Specifications, and Distribution Operating Procedures.
  • Working knowledge of NESC.
