About The Position

The role involves applying electrical, electronic, and mechanical principles to components and systems, including assembly, analysis, and documentation of results; construction of developmental assemblies, sub-assemblies, and components; and quality testing. The position is for the A1B Fluid Systems Propulsion Plant Manual (PPM) Author, responsible for content related to steam plant fluid and mechanical systems within the A1B Propulsion Plant. The PPM Author collaborates closely with system and component engineers to ensure the accuracy and conciseness of descriptions, operations, and maintenance of applicable systems and components, adhering to authoring guidelines. This role requires substantial research, critical thinking, and interaction with NNL and NAVSEA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program and 9 years of relevant exempt experience.
  • Master’s Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Ph.D. and 4 years of experience.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Apply electrical, electronic, and mechanical principles to components and systems.
  • Construct developmental assemblies, sub-assemblies, and components.

  • Support and participate in the design, test, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems.
  • Ensure the accuracy and conciseness of PPM content related to steam plant fluid and mechanical systems.
  • Collaborate with system and component engineers.
  • Conduct research and critical thinking to support PPM content development.
