About The Position

AMEWAS is seeking a highly motivated and talented Engineer (Electro-Optical)-Journeyman to support Advanced Aircraft Research, Development, Test & Evaluation. The Digital Analytics, Infrastructure, and Technology Advancement (DAiTA) Group is at the cutting edge of Advanced Aircraft Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (AARDT&E). Our state-of-the-art laboratories are equipped to work seamlessly together, enabling comprehensive testing and evaluation of aircraft and weapons systems across the Department of Defense. The Integrated Battlespace Simulation and Test (IBST) Department is at the heart of this innovative ecosystem. This team is the driving force behind the research, development, management, design, documentation, fabrication, installation, integration, testing, evaluation, operation, and maintenance of the Air Combat Environment Test Facility (ACETEF) and other DAiTA AARDT&E capabilities, laboratories, and facilities. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics or related field
  • 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience with EO/IR sensors and test equipment
  • Experience with EO/IR test and evaluation techniques/criteria
  • Experience with DAIRCM and LAIRCM
  • The ability to obtain and maintain SAP and/or SCI access as required
  • Holds final Secret eligibility-The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret Security Clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Degree in Optics, Electrical Engineering, Physics or related STEM discipline
  • Experience with imaging systems (Ex. IR, visible, multi-spectral, etc.)
  • Experience integrating EO hardware and embedded electronics
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Python or C++ for data analysis and test automation

Responsibilities

  • Designs, assembles and maintains EO/IR test setups (Ex. optical characterization labs, laser alignment, hardware for measurement across optical wavelengths, etc.)
  • Develops and operates target boards for EO/IR sensor evaluation and incorporates thermal sources and detectors
  • Builds and manages EO/IR simulated environments and rugged field-test infrastructure to replicate real-world scenarios for missile seekers, laser designators and special mission sensors
  • Supports test planning, execution, documentation and post-test analysis (Ex. real-time monitoring and integration with aircraft/weapons systems)
  • Diagnoses and corrects electronic circuitry malfunctions in EO/IR equipment
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams on prototyping, integration and fleet support
  • Participates in occasional travel for Army/Air Force/Navy test activities
