About The Position

The Electrical Controls Engineer plays a critical role in the design, development, and optimization of control systems and electrical equipment to enhance manufacturing operations. This position requires a blend of technical expertise and problem-solving ability to ensure system reliability, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards. The Electrical Controls Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement, manage system upgrades, and support the integration of advanced automation technologies in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field. (Required)
  • 4-6 years in industrial automation and controls. (Preferred)
  • 4-6 years with PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent). (Preferred)
  • 4-6 years hands-on experience with HMI design and SCADA systems. (Preferred)
  • Expertise in programming and diagnosing issues with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar systems. Ability to write, test, and debug ladder logic and structured text. (High proficiency)
  • Proficient in designing and implementing user interfaces and monitoring systems, ensuring user-friendly operation and accurate data visualization. (High proficiency)
  • Capability in creating detailed electrical schematics using tools like AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN. (High proficiency)
  • Ability to systematically identify and resolve complex technical issues using analytical tools and techniques. (High proficiency)
  • Clear and effective communication to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and document processes accurately. (High proficiency)
  • Skilled at fostering collaboration with cross-functional teams to achieve shared goals. (High proficiency)
  • Commitment to staying updated on industry trends and emerging technologies in automation and control systems. (High proficiency)
  • Understanding of protocols for industrial communication and integration. Familiarity with configuring and maintaining networked devices. (Medium proficiency)
  • Awareness of electrical safety and workplace compliance requirements, including lockout/tagout procedures. (Medium proficiency)
  • Experience managing timelines, resources, and team collaboration to deliver control systems projects. (Medium proficiency)
  • Ability to analyze system performance data to identify improvement opportunities. (Medium proficiency)

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement PLC and HMI programs for manufacturing systems.
  • Design electrical control panels and schematics using CAD software.
  • Select and configure appropriate hardware for control systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve control system failures to minimize downtime.
  • Perform regular testing and calibration of equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and industry standards.
  • Integrate new equipment into existing systems.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives for system efficiency and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate projects.
  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation, including schematics, software, and operation manuals.
