About The Position

Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes. This engineer is expected to test the various Propulsion Plant control systems, perform troubleshooting of control system components, write LARs, and be responsible for testing ADMIN systems. This engineer will also be expected to perform crew training and coordinate with several interfacing technical organizations for verification and validation of the A1B Propulsion Plant control systems.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant exempt experience
Master’s Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience
Ph.D. and 0 years of experience
Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

Nice To Haves

Familiar with NNPP standards for control systems
Familiar with machinery control system
Experience with development of test procedures
Experience testing in the A1B Propulsion Plant system
Experience working and troubleshooting Propulsion Plant automated systems
Experience with the design and operation of the A1B project
Experience working with Ships Force, NAVSEA 08K, or NNL
Experience troubleshooting various Propulsion Plant final control elements
Experience with writing LARs and LAR responses
