About The Position

The AUKUS SSNA Program is seeking a strong engineer to support the development of the next generation of fast attack submarines. This position will be responsible for working collaboratively with other key stakeholders throughout the SSNA program and will interface with UK’s BAE Systems integrated delivery teams (IDTs) to help design portions of the UK and Australian SSNA nuclear-powered submarine. The engineer will need to:    · Engage with shipyards, customers and other stakeholders to collect feedback for design incorporation.     · Have flexibility with work assignments and may perform duties outside of traditional discipline work scope.    · Work with multi-discipline teams on incorporation of SSNA design principles    · Solve complex spatial integration issues while meeting system and overall ship requirements    · Be able to effectively communicate with both internal leadership and external customer(s).    · Be prepared to work in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.     · The position will requires individuals who are able to adapt and adjust to support objectives. Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of relevant exempt experience
  • Master’s Degree and 0 year of relevant professional experience
  • Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience or coursework in one or more of the following:
  • Sonar Systems
  • Computer/Data System Integration
  • Radio System Integration
  • Cabling
  • Requirement Management and System Engineering Approach
  • Excellent Written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to read and understand system schematics and drawings
  • Systems engineering or Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience is desired.
  • Specific experience using Cameo or Matlab Systems Composer is preferred.
