About The Position

Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes. E86 is a construction engineering department within the Nuclear Propulsion Division of NNS. We interface with many different organizations in all phases of manufacturing nuclear powered aircraft carriers and submarines (e.g., design, material procurement, planning, construction, final testing, etc.). One of our major functions is to develop step-by-step procedures and technical drawings, and we solve problems on a daily basis as craftsmen build and test the propulsion plants on Gerald R. Ford class aircraft carriers, Virginia class submarines, and portions of Columbia class submarines. From the office, to the shop floor, to the ship, we move to where we are needed to provide effective engineering support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 0 years of relevant exempt experience.
  • Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • US Citizenship Required for this Position: Yes
