About The Position

The Engineer Diver position at Moffatt & Nichol is an entry-level role focused on structural assessment and commercial diving. The successful candidate will join a team of experienced engineer-divers in Honolulu, performing inspections and evaluations of marine structures and ports. This role involves both fieldwork and office tasks, including structural design, report preparation, and collaboration with various engineering disciplines. The position offers opportunities for career growth through in-house training programs in commercial diving and professional rope access.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited university
  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering preferred
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) strongly preferred and required within 6 months of commencing employment
  • Certified Commercial Diver - ADCI, HSE, DCBC, IMCA or ADAS required
  • Entry to 4 years of related diving and inspection experience; design experience strongly preferred
  • Possess a valid driver's license in good standing
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required
  • Boater Safety Card preferred
  • Possess DBIDS card or eligibility to successfully pass background check to secure Department of Defense DBIDS card and other badges required by clients
  • Possession of or ability to obtain within a couple months of hire a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • Current First Aid, CPR, AED, and Oxygen Administration certification preferred
  • Selected candidate must consent to and pass a post-off/pre-employment drug screening
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment background check in compliance with NIST 800-171

  • NHI/NBIS bridge inspection qualifications a plus

Responsibilities

  • Performs site investigations of marine structures, bridges, and other infrastructure assets
  • Ensures that the scope of work is fulfilled as directed and that the contracted deliverable is submitted on schedule and as budgeted
  • Works collaboratively with all members of the inspection team and of other engineering disciplines
  • Analyzes deficient components of marine structures to assess load capacity
  • Prepares plans, specifications, cost estimates and supporting documentation
  • Assists with civil and structural design
  • Performs other duties as required
