About the position
Assist engineers and management in engineering planning and design of electric distribution system expansion and maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Meet with customers to determine their electrical service needs.
- Prepare or assist in preparation of field layouts of routine jobs; such as staking, sketching, inventories, estimates, work request preparation and materials utilizing company work management and graphical design tools.
- Make, or assist in making, routine technical surveys or analyses; such as load balance or voltage drop calculations.
- Inspect work for conformance to drawings and specifications.
- Acquire or assist in the acquisition of distribution easements.
- Perform surveying and general transit work.
- Settle damage claims pertaining to construction and rebuilding of lines.
- Prepare engineering drawings from work prints and field notes.
- Perform and assist technical employees with routine engineering duties in office.
- Assist, as necessary, in storm restoration.
- All other duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate degree in technical discipline such as electrical engineering or design drafting, or a High School Diploma and a minimum of two years working in the electric utility industry or engineering industry.
- Valid driver's license is required.
- Knowledge of electric delivery system, construction standards, materials and equipment, basic math, algebra and trigonometry functions.
- Above average interpersonal relations, communication, organizing and analytical skills.
- Fully competent computer knowledge.
