About The Position

Mitsubishi Chemical America (MCA) is seeking an Engineer, CAPEX & Mechanical Reliability to support our Specialty Resins manufacturing site. This is a high-impact individual contributor role for an engineer who enjoys owning capital projects, improving plant reliability, and partnering closely with Maintenance and Operations to make lasting improvements. If you like seeing your work come to life in the plant—not just on paper—this role offers visibility, influence, and meaningful technical ownership. In this role, you’ll balance capital project execution with mechanical integrity and reliability leadership, helping ensure our facility operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience 15+ years)
  • 8–10+ years of experience in a chemical or process manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of mechanical systems, inspection techniques, and integrity programs
  • Familiarity with RBI, corrosion monitoring, and failure analysis
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working cross-functionally

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SAP PM is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Lead small to mid-size CAPEX projects from scope development through execution and close-out
  • Develop technical scopes, cost justifications, and RFQs; serve as the technical resource for Procurement
  • Review bids, manage contractors, control scope, schedule, and costs
  • Ensure projects meet safety, quality, regulatory, and financial requirements
  • Support and enhance the site’s Mechanical Integrity program in partnership with Maintenance
  • Help develop inspection and test plans, including RBI and condition monitoring strategies
  • Review inspection data, corrosion rates, and failure mechanisms; recommend corrective actions
  • Support implementation and optimization of SAP PM for maintenance planning
  • Participate in HAZOPs, PHAs, and process safety reviews
  • Maintain and support PSM and engineering documentation (P&IDs, drawings, plot plans, etc.)
