Who we’re looking for Toyota’s Battery Manufacturing Production Engineering (PE) department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Engineer to work on the implementation team. This position's primary responsibility is the production preparation (model launch) of Battery manufacturing equipment to produce lithium-ion battery cells to support Toyota’s vision of providing Electrified Vehicles (EVs) to market for our customers. To achieve this mission, we work together as a joint venture collaboration with our Global Battery Expansion Team, comprised of Toyota & Panasonic to create Prime Planet Energy Solutions (PPES). This position will be located at Toyota’s Battery Manufacturing North Carolina (TBMNC) in Liberty, North Carolina, and report to an Engineering Manager for Electric Vehicle (EV) Cell Manufacturing. What you’ll be doing • Execute installation & trial schedules for each project phase for a specific Battery PE shop that includes all critical milestones from equipment procurement to vendor buy off, installation/commissioning, and confirmation trials • Procure main machine, supply parts, auxiliary equipment, & other components as required • Prepare for (scope of work, bid pack review, and project award) & lead battery equipment installation activities: develop schedule, coordinate contractors, conduct daily safety audits and address day-to-day challenges to achieve schedule milestones • Work collaboratively with a diverse, cross-functional team to complete equipment adjustment through Commissiong phase; Identify and resolve items, conducting root cause analysis and clear countermeasures to achieve process safety, quality, and productivity KPI’s • Summarize/analyze KPI’s and prepare presentations of plan versus actual condition; Provide overall project status updates and key item escalation to stakeholders to leadership within key stakeholder groups including NA PE, NA Project Management, TBMNC Executives/teams, etc. • Mentor co-ops and engineers to help them grow both technically and individually. What you bring • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering or similar technical field or 10+ years of equivalent experience in manufacturing • Experience in Manufacturing • Experience in creating and implementing processes in a manufacturing environment. This includes takt time study, line balancing and cycle time reduction • Project management experience with schedule and budget creation and management; Preferably with projects greater than $250K investment • Experience with planning, implementing and mass production support for production lines greater than 9K capacity per month • Ability for business travel, both domestic and international, up to 20% • Ability to work weekend and shutdown work (such as July and December holidays) as needed Added bonus if you have • TBP (Toyota Business Practices) experience, with emphasis on problem solving • Toyota Production Engineering experience • Product/model launch experience utilizing the Master Operating Plan • Experience in Quality with ability to find root cause of chronic problems • Experience in the manufacturing of battery cells or in a chemical facility • Toyota Production Engineering experience (expand in detail) • AutoCAD, or similar 2D drafting software experience • Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) experience in reading, editing, and troubleshooting What we’ll bring During your interview process, our team can fill you in on all the details of our industry-leading benefits and career development opportunities. Requirements
