As a Engineer on the Backbone Network team, you will build, run, and automate the Backbone Network at Target, which is used by Team Members and Guests every day. This will include deploying new tech to the field, improving the experience of users connected to the network, and ensuring the smooth operations of our existing network. You will join a group of engineers who are passionate about building the best possible experience for our users. This will include a mix of traditional networking and developing software to continuously improve the experience. As an Engineer, you will: Use your skills to support our 2000+ locations and solving challenging network problems at scale. Automation and reliability are critical to providing a great experience for Guests and Team members in an environment of this size. You will join a team that owns the Backbone WAN from the edge through our centralized data centers. This includes designing, supporting and automating our network. The team is also moving from a legacy platform to a modern SD-WAN platform and you will be a key part of that transition. Core responsibilities of this job are described within this job description.   • 4 year degree or equivalent experience
  • 1+ years of networking experience and/or software development experience
  • Demonstrates knowledge of core Networking elements such as IP addressing, routing, switching
  • Demonstrates knowledge foundational Network Concepts: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/HTTPS
  • Experience with programming languages in either python, java, or go
  • Demonstrate some proficiency with Linux Operating Systems
  • Understands the concepts of network design and architecture.
  • Demonstrate strong Written and Verbal communication skills
  • Resolves routine technical issues with some assistance
  • Builds strong commitment within the team to support the appropriate team priorities
  • Maintains technical knowledge within areas of expertise
  • Stays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self-directed education
  • Familiarity with SD-WAN technology
  • Using automation to solve large scale problems.
