MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT As a Mechanical Engineer Associate, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of NAVAIR Ship and Air Integrated Warfare (SAIW) Division. You will play a crucial role in providing technical support for shipboard installations and solutions to teams performing industrial work. Design, evaluate, plan, test, and operate electrical, electronic, mechanical, and/or computer components, equipment and systems Evaluate system designs and drawings to identify problems during project planning to reduce impacts during execution Perform technical evaluations on system designs and propose resolutions to internal and external stakeholders Develop system test and evaluation plans, and execute test plans to verify performance of equipment Identify risks and issues that may affect project success and propose mitigation strategies Interface directly with customer stakeholders and multiple engineering authorities to identify issues during initial design and corresponding solutions Generate Condition Found Reports (CFRs) and Liaison Action Requests (LARs) summarizing problems and propose recommendations Collaborate with project management and installation teams to identify and resolve issues impeding project progress Interface directly with customer stakeholders and multiple engineering authorities to identify issues during initial design and corresponding solutions Aid industrial installation teams in applying developed solutions on-site Identify areas for process improvement and make recommendations for change Ensure installation of next-generation equipment on Naval Vessels is successful without compromising quality or safety Utilize Autodesk suite of tools in development and evaluation of engineering solutions WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED Bring your engineering expertise along with a drive for innovation to GDIT. The Mechanical Engineer Associate must have:

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Bachelor of Engineering from ABET-accredited school
  • Required Experience: 0+ years of related experience
  • Security Clearance Level: Able to obtain Secret clearance
  • Strong technical problem solving skills, including evaluating performance of a system
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments and levels of an organization
  • Strong organization and time management skills able to balance multiple priorities and clients
  • Able to read drawings
  • Technical writing skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Proficient with Autodesk including AutoCAD
  • US Citizenship Required

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Mil-Stds and Navy Modernization Process preferred
