The role of a transmission line engineer includes the scoping, design, construction, and analysis of the physical infrastructure (predominantly structures and wires) that enables the transfer of high voltage electricity. For an entry level candidate this role operates with guidance and mentoring from experienced engineers. For those with professional experience, more independence is expected. This role operates as part of a multi-disciplinary team to execute projects from initiation through final construction and closeout. The role is governed by strict safety and design standards but often requires creative thinking and problem solving to find solutions that satisfy all customers/stakeholders. Ideal candidates should have knowledge and/or experience with large construction projects, project scoping, scheduling and material ordering. Additional experience with any of the software or concepts below is a plus: Transmission line routing, Plan and Profile drawings, PLS-CADD Software and/or structural analysis, FAD Tools Software and/or foundation design, Project/Construction management.
