The Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences is seeking a Engineer/Associate Engineer II. This position is assigned to the Brain Stimulation Laboratory for the purpose of performing the independent analysis, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of complex non-invasive brain stimulation, imaging, and recording technologies, which may include: Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI), Electroencephalography (EEG), transcranial focused ultrasound (tFUS), and others. This individual will assist with studies of non-invasive brain stimulation for improving regulation of cognition and emotion among healthy participants and patients with neuropsychiatric (depression, PTSD, addiction) and neurodegenerative disorders (stroke, dementia), among others. They will research, design, develop, write, and test moderately complex computer programs in Matlab, Python, BASH, Eprime, and other software languages. They will develop system designs, technical specifications, and test plans in conjunction with program managers, research assistants, and other engineers. They will setup and modify existing hardware to meet project specifications, and research new products and technologies and recommend purchases. This job will also include career development mentoring and opportunities for those interested in pursuing graduate work in medicine, neuroscience, psychology or related fields.
