About The Position

We are looking for an Engineer to join our team in Lansing, NY. This entry-level position plays a critical role in the preparation of metallographic samples for microscopic and mechanical evaluation. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field
  • Proficiency with metallurgical instruments such as optical and scanning electron microscopes (SEM), hardness testers, and spectrometers.
  • Strong knowledge of ASTM standards and industry specifications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct material characterization, and metallurgical evaluations using advanced analytical techniques.
  • Support failure analysis testing as needed.
  • Perform microstructural analysis, weld evaluations, aggressive machining, and other metallurgical tests per customer and industry specifications.
  • Develop and execute test plans for standard and custom projects, ensuring compliance with ASTM and other relevant standards.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports summarizing findings and recommendations for clients.
  • Collaborate with customers to interpret specifications and resolve technical issues.
  • Train and guide laboratory personnel in sample preparation, test setup, and data collection.
  • Maintain IMR’s quality and safety standards throughout all testing processes.
  • Support continuous improvement projects within the metallurgy department.
  • Participate in customer audits and provide technical support during on-site visits.
