The Weapon Systems Integration (WSI) Flight Test Engineer position at the Naval Air Systems Command in China Lake, CA, is a critical role responsible for overseeing the engineering projects and resources associated with F/A-18 Weapons Integration testing. The successful candidate will be tasked with scheduling, coordinating, monitoring, evaluating, conducting, and managing various engineering projects. This includes developing technically sound flight test plans and reports, as well as creating testable scenarios, profiles, and procedures that will be utilized to produce flight test cards. The role requires a strong understanding of the Test & Evaluation (T&E) processes, particularly in relation to testing weapons, sensors, or platform systems. In addition to project management, the Flight Test Engineer will be responsible for maintaining test schedules for the flight test program and assisting in the training of junior Flight Test Engineers (FTEs). Collaboration is key in this role, as the engineer will work closely with the WSI Lead Test Engineer (LTE) and project officers to develop test plans and facilitate data requests with the Land Range Data Center (LRDC). The position also involves supporting technical engineering reviews, understanding system requirements, and applying technical knowledge to execute a dynamic test program effectively. Candidates must be prepared to travel to various locations, including remote or isolated sites, and may need to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods. This position is permanent and full-time, offering a competitive salary range of $101,121.00 to $156,323.00, depending on qualifications and experience.
