About The Position

We are currently looking for a Engineer 2 to join our team in Stanfield, AZ. We’re currently looking for a self-motivated individual seeking a challenging opportunity to develop, test and validate the future of driving by joining as a Chassis Test engineer in our Ride, Handling and Braking Test team in the Chassis Performance group at Nissan’s Arizona Test Center in Stanfield, AZ. The Chassis Test engineer will be will be responsible for vehicle dynamic performance development and testing of full-vehicle ride comfort, handling, steering, and braking performances. This will include: planning/scheduling testing in order to meet program timing, overseeing proving ground and public road data collection, analyzing and reporting data and findings, supporting countermeasure development, and homologation testing to confirm vehicle performance achievement. In addition, the Chassis Test engineer will support market and competitor studies, field validation, and special studies related to vehicle dynamic performance. Collaboration with other Chassis Performance functions (ADAS and VDC teams) may be required as workflow demands.

Requirements

  • Must be self-motivated to learn, perform and grow in a dynamic team environment; must have excellent communication and interpersonal skill appropriate to cross cultural/cross functional work environment; must be willing to work overtime and be a team player
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive) required ; MS or MSE preferred; academic focus in vehicle dynamics preferred
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle dynamics principles required
  • Minimum 2 years vehicle dynamics development/testing required ; ride/handling/braking experience preferred; proving grounds experience preferred
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Outlook, etc) required ; experience with Vector, Racelogic, LINK, LMS, DART, SOMAT/Catman, Dewesoft, and other vehicle performance data acquisition and analysis software preferred
  • Valid driver’s license required ; advanced high performance driving training/experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Test planning and execution : Plan and execute tests according to Nissan and FMVSS/UN standards; schedule and organize tests to meet resource, equipment, manpower, facility, and program requirements; collect data and/or oversee data collection by other team members
  • Data analysis and reporting : Analyze in detail the data using proprietary analysis software (DART) as well as LINK RevData, Vector CANape/CANalyzer, Racelogic VBOX, SOMAT Catman and other data acquisition/reduction software; summarize results in report format; present results to peers, management and program staff with appropriate levels of detail; follow-up on feedback
  • Performance evaluation : Evaluate vehicle and system performances, both objectively and subjectively, in proving ground and public road scenes, from both vehicle dynamics specialist and customer experience perspectives
  • Issue resolution : Support countermeasure development for issues, using root cause analysis, special testing, and competitiveness studies to validate achievement; communicate changes and requirements with related Design departments (Suspension, Tire/wheel, Brake, etc), negotiating where necessary when there are performance, cost, or timing tradeoffs.
  • Activity leadership/teamwork : Arrange and lead team testing activities at proving ground and public road scenes, including communication and reporting. Work in a team setting with common goals and mutual respect/understanding. Activities can include business travel between various test scenes, test centers in Japan and Michigan, and suppliers (up to ~20% depending on program needs); cross training with other Chassis Performance functions will be expected on as business needs dictate
