About The Position

The Gas Power Outage Tooling Team is a global service group dedicated to excellence in outage tooling design, process development, tool manufacturing, and on-site delivery and validation. Our team supports a wide range of Heavy-Duty Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines, and Generators. As an Outage Tooling Engineer, you will drive initiatives to develop specialty outage and installation tooling and processes for all HA products. You will collaborate daily with local technical leadership and a broader global team—including suppliers, FieldCore, GE sites, and field customers—to deliver innovative solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Materials, or related field) from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in design, manufacturing, or other engineering experience
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestic or internationally <15% as required

Nice To Haves

  • Gas Power Edison Engineer; Completion of LPX, Teardown Training; Progress toward completion of Engineering Masters degree and/or ACE Certificate
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Demonstrated creativity and critical thinking/ troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with engineering tools such as Ansys Workbench & NX, Solidworks or other solid modeling software
  • Strong influencing skills & working in a global, matrixed organization
  • Familiarity with Lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a designer of assigned specialty tooling, including overall responsibility for all aspects of mechanical design and implementation – concept generation, analysis, design reviews, model/drawing definition, manufacturing / assembly support, field instructions for use on site
  • Execute the design, analysis, and evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product and program requirements
  • Coordinate the specialty tooling development through close cooperation with FieldCore, GE Product Services, Design Teams, and local and global vendors
  • Effectively document results and present them in formal and informal reviews, document technical data generated to substantiate acceptance of the assigned components, assemblies and/or systems consistent with engineering policies and procedures
  • Champion lean methodologies, standard work, and participate or lead Lean to problem solve or improve processes within Operations and the broader AMRT organization.
  • Establish and maintain adherence to standard tools, processes, and RTQMS standards for quality and safety.
