An Engineer 1 is part of a key team of Nordstrom Technology professionals that applies scientific, mathematical and social principles to design, build, and maintain technology products, devices, systems and solutions. These technology products and solutions provide amazing customer experiences while meeting the needs of the business. The Developer Gateways team builds the services which connect our applications at Nordstrom. From our gateways through to our compute platforms, we work to ensure the fast, reliable and secure delivery of traffic. In this role, you will contribute to all of our services, ensuring their timely delivery and successful adoption by the Nordstrom developer community. Along with the team you will provide operational support and troubleshooting to guarantee the availability of everything we build. This is a broad role involving elements of systems, software and network engineering so curiosity and a willingness to learn are a must. This role is offered as hybrid in Seattle, WA. Candidates must be available to work in office at the Nordstrom corporate headquarters a minimum of 3 days/week to be considered for this position.

  • Developing enhancements to our API management platforms
  • Developing our service mesh implementation
  • Integrating our services with Nordstrom's standard CI/CD automation
  • Collaborate with partner development teams to enable adoption of our services
  • Troubleshooting and operational support of our services
  • Programming experience in Bash, Python and Golang
  • Familiarity with common internet protocols (e.g. IP, TCP, DNS)
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with the Linux operating system (Amazon Linux and/or Debian distributions are preferable)
  • Experience with a public cloud provider (AWS is preferable)
  • Experience with Terraform or similar Infrastructure as Code utilities (e.g. CloudFormation)
  • Experience with GitLab CI is a bonus
  • 1+ years of professional experience in a related field
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, engineering or equivalent practical experience
