As an Engine Performance & Emissions Development Engineer within the Mercury Marine Product Development & Engineering team, you will primarily focus on the thermodynamic development of spark ignited four stroke engines. Additionally, this role may also support engine calibration activities. At Brunswick, we have passion for our work and a distinct ability to deliver.

  • Developing optimized base engine hardware and calibrations for power, emissions, fuel economy, and part throttle combustion stability
  • Construct engine test/development plans
  • Support engine testing on the dynamometer and boats
  • Aid in establishing standardized procedures for engine development and testing
  • Documentation of work in the form of technical reports
  • Provide clear feedback to design engineers to drive product improvement
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 2 years of related experience
  • Analytical approach to problem solving
  • Overall understanding of engine thermodynamics (gas exchange, combustion, & emissions)
  • Working knowledge of spreadsheet, database, and word processing software packages
  • Master of Science in an Engineering discipline
  • Previous four-stroke spark ignited engine development experience
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Experience with engine dynamometer testing
  • Experience with AVL engine test and analysis software (PUMA, Concerto) is a plus
