About The Position

Since 1987, Participate Learning has partnered with schools and districts to prepare students for career success through cultural exchange, dual language programs, and global learning. We help students build bilingual fluency, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills to apply their learning in real-world settings and any career path. The Engagement Strategist is a highly organized and collaborative professional who leads the day-to-day management and execution of engagement initiatives that support positive and meaningful experiences for partner schools, districts, and international teachers across the Participate Learning Network. Working closely with the Director of Partner Experience and Communications, this role plays a critical part in bringing engagement strategies to life by overseeing the implementation and ongoing management of initiatives that foster connection, recognition, storytelling, and community among our partners and teachers. The Engagement Strategist ensures engagement programs are delivered with excellence, consistency, and attention to detail, while continuously identifying opportunities to strengthen the overall partner and teacher experience. This individual collaborates across departments to coordinate engagement opportunities that elevate educator voices, celebrate partner impact, and strengthen relationships within our global community. In addition to managing existing initiatives, the Engagement Strategist proposes new ideas, programs, and improvements that enhance engagement and support Participate Learning’s mission of preparing students for success in a competitive workforce through cultural exchange, dual language, and global learning. The ideal candidate is skilled at managing multiple projects simultaneously, thrives in a collaborative environment, and brings strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities. They are comfortable balancing both the strategic context of engagement initiatives and the logistical execution required to deliver high-quality experiences. With a strong customer service mindset and a passion for supporting educators and partners, this individual ensures that engagement programs reflect Participate Learning’s commitment to excellence, connection, and global impact. The Engagement Strategist plays a key role in ensuring that our engagement initiatives not only run smoothly but also create meaningful experiences that inspire teachers and partners, strengthen relationships across our network, and reinforce the purpose and impact of our work.

Requirements

  • Excellent Communication Abilities—Outstanding writing, proofreading, and speaking skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with educators, partners, and internal teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required for interaction in person, over the phone, and online with high professionalism.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with educators, partners, and colleagues across the organization.
  • Comfort presenting information, facilitating discussions, or supporting virtual and in-person engagement experiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments from a variety of cross-departmental staff members while maintaining organization, timelines, and attention to detail.
  • Capability to accomplish projects with minimal supervision, demonstrating strong initiative, self-direction, and accountability.
  • Strong project and program management skills with the ability to coordinate logistics, communications, and deliverables across multiple engagement initiatives simultaneously.
  • Strong commitment to exceptional customer service and delivering high-quality experiences for teachers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to ensure accuracy, consistency, and excellence across engagement initiatives and communications.
  • Proficient in using the latest versions of Google Workspace tools for communications, task management, document collaboration, and presentations.
  • Experience using event platforms such as Zoom or similar tools to support virtual events, registration management, and participant engagement.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize competing responsibilities.
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to proactively address challenges and ensure engagement initiatives run smoothly.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment while supporting organizational priorities and cross-departmental initiatives.
  • Passion for supporting educators and strengthening engagement within global education communities.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Education or a related field preferred.
  • 3–5 years of professional experience in program coordination, engagement initiatives, event management, customer experience, education, or related roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage engagement initiatives or projects that support educator communities, partner organizations, or similar networks.
  • Experience working collaboratively across teams and departments to support shared goals and initiatives.
  • Requires periodic access to and time spent in our head office in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. [As needed.]
  • Weekend and evening work during teacher orientations (including but not limited to summer and fall), staff events, and other activities as needed.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license without restrictions.
  • Domestic travel as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of engagement initiatives and experiences that support partner schools, districts, and teachers.
  • Implement engagement strategies developed in partnership with the Director of Partner Experience and Communications.
  • Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of engagement programs, including contests, challenges, recognition initiatives, and community activities.
  • Maintain and continuously improve existing engagement initiatives to ensure they remain relevant, effective, and impactful.
  • Track participation, engagement metrics, and outcomes to support program evaluation and improvement.
  • Plan, design, and produce a variety of virtual and in-person engagement experiences.
  • Manage the logistical and administrative aspects of engagement initiatives, including timelines, materials, communications, and cross-team coordination.
  • Provide administrative support for initiatives such as contests, challenges, and awards programs, including entry tracking, communications, and prize distribution.
  • Coordinate engagement-related components of major events such as Arrival Orientation, Fall Orientation, Ambassador Teacher Graduation, summits, and symposiums.
  • Ensure engagement initiatives run smoothly by proactively addressing issues and troubleshooting challenges.
  • Empower teachers—individually and collectively—to become passionate advocates for the organization and understand the role they play in amplifying Participate Learning’s mission and brand purpose.
  • Support initiatives that position teachers as experts and leaders in global education.
  • Encourage and support partner schools, districts, and teachers in sharing their stories through social media, websites, and other platforms.
  • Facilitate and manage online community spaces that foster connection, dialogue, and collaboration among teachers and partners, leveraging these communities to promote engagement initiatives and increase participation across programs and experiences.
  • Partner with the Director of Partner Experience and Communications to support the strategic planning and implementation of engagement strategies.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on program performance, participant feedback, and engagement trends.
  • Propose new initiatives, projects, or enhancements that strengthen engagement and improve the partner and teacher experience.
  • Collaborate cross-departmentally to promote engagement initiatives and amplify the voices of teachers and partners.
  • Liaise with departments to understand engagement needs and ensure initiatives support broader organizational priorities.
  • Support internal teams in incorporating engagement opportunities into broader programs, communications, and initiatives.
