About The Position

We are seeking a passionate Resident Engagement Specialist to join our dynamic team! This pivotal role is all about fostering an engaging and creative atmosphere within Sonora’s Skilled Nursing, Assisted Living, and Memory Support communities. As our Resident Engagement Specialist, you will have the opportunity to facilitate enriching activities for residents, embodying our Culture of Creativity. You will implement evidence-based practices for both group and one-on-one engagement, leveraging diverse mediums such as music, movement, theater, visual arts, nature, writing, storytelling, culinary arts, and sensory experiences. Your role will be instrumental in creating meaningful celebrations of holidays and rituals, all while maintaining a rich and consistent daily routine. This position is full-time, hourly, and located on-site at Splendido at Rancho Vistoso (13500 N Rancho Vistoso Blvd, Tucson, AZ 85755). Weekends and flexible scheduling required for special events. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS You’ll engage with residents who have varied physical, cognitive, and emotional needs, ensuring each interaction is purposeful and fulfilling. Building personal connections one-on-one will be a vital part of your responsibilities, supporting resident participation in community events, outings, and more. For residents living with cognitive impairments, you will deliver programs grounded in the Creating My Possibilities framework. This involves utilizing best practices in environmental setup, group dynamics, and strengths-based program design, making each interaction a positive experience. In addition, you will play a key role in integrating volunteers into Sonora’s programs, enhancing the sense of community and support for our residents. Your participation in resident interviews and care planning processes will ensure that individual preferences and wellness goals are woven into daily life, contributing to a tailored experience for each resident. You’ll have the chance to unleash your creativity by developing new program ideas and preparing upcoming experiences that encourage active participation. Your expertise will shine through as you assist in creating engaging communication materials that resonate with our residents. Building strong relationships with families is paramount, and you will facilitate their involvement in special initiatives, family visits, and community events, enhancing the overall resident experience. Fostering an engaging environment is key; you will prepare amenity spaces for meaningful group and one-on-one experiences and ensure that our environment remains welcoming and uplifting at all times. Creating smooth transitions before and after scheduled programs will help us maintain a therapeutic atmosphere. As part of maintaining our quality standards, you will uphold the dignity and quality of our holiday decorations, aligning with Mather guidelines. Requirements

  • College Degree in Recreation, Arts/Humanities, Hospitality, Psychology, Education, Geriatrics or related field, OR 1+ years related experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and excellent customer
  • Collaborative, welcoming, positive attitude and enthusiasm for engaging older
  • Self-initiator requiring minimum
  • Ability to use or learn a variety of tech-based services and platforms; e. Microsoft Outlook, Zoom, YouTube, resident facing portals, and A/V set-ups
