About The Position

The Enforcement Investigator IV position at the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation involves conducting complex investigations related to complaints filed with the agency. The role requires planning, interviewing, gathering evidence, and preparing detailed reports to ensure compliance with agency statutes and rules. The investigator will work under the supervision of the Lead Investigator and may be required to travel up to 25%.

Requirements

  • Minimum three (3) years experience in investigations, inspections, enforcement, and/or administration of a governmental regulatory program required.
  • Graduation from a standard high school or equivalent required.
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in a field relevant to assigned program is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze assigned cases to develop an investigative plan and conduct complex investigations of suspected violations of agency statutes and rules.
  • Conduct criminal background and personal history investigations, review records, and verify information.
  • Conduct in-person or telephone interviews of complainants, respondents, and pertinent witnesses, including parties involved in trafficking or survivors of sexual assault.
  • Identify indicators of trafficked persons and conduct follow-up interviews as necessary.
  • Collect and maintain pertinent evidence, reviewing it with witnesses as needed to confirm authenticity and relevance.
  • Conduct internet research to secure identity, location, ownership, and other background information about individuals and entities.
  • Conduct on-site inspections, audits, and investigations, assisting internal and external partners in investigations and projects.
  • Analyze witness statements, documents, and evidence to ensure comprehensive understanding of the case.
  • Prepare accurate, detailed, and complete written reports of investigations for referral to prosecutors.
  • Assist attorneys and legal assistants in reviewing reports and preparing evidence for administrative hearings.
  • Present testimony and evidence in administrative hearings before the State Office of Administrative Hearings (SOAH).
  • Act as a liaison with local, state, and federal agencies to enhance enforcement of statutes administered by TDLR.
  • Educate regulated industries and the public by responding to inquiries and making presentations regarding agency statutes and rules.
  • Provide training to TDLR staff regarding agency statutes, rules, and investigative processes.
