About The Position

The Energy Resource Manager (ERM) at Microsoft plays a crucial role in optimizing data center operations by managing IT capacity and resources. This position focuses on reducing stranded capacity through effective collaboration with various stakeholders, ensuring compliance with service-level policies, and leading retrofit efforts to enhance existing data centers. The ERM is integral to the Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team, contributing to the infrastructure that supports Microsoft's extensive online services.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent AND 2+ years' experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.
  • Experience delivering server and network deployment projects in large-scale environments.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years' experience in Critical Environment infrastructure (e.g., UPS, PDUs, Generators).
  • 1+ years' experience in IT Critical Space and understanding of IT Allocation.

Responsibilities

  • Manage IT allocation at the Campus/Metro level by collaborating with key stakeholders.
  • Familiarize with data center design and manage IT resources through virtual failure analysis.
  • Develop a master allocation plan to operationalize customer capacity.
  • Ensure compliance with data center business units and service-level policies.
  • Engage with teams to execute tasks or projects effectively.
  • Manage programs associated with the area of responsibility while adhering to budget requirements.
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) processes as appropriate.
  • Identify power stranding and contractual inconsistencies in leased spaces.
  • Lead programs and projects through leadership forums aligning scope, schedule, and cost to OKRs.
  • Manage assigned projects to meet service delivery objectives and escalate issues as needed.
